So I intended to blog my 29th year but I was so busy having a blast that I guess I forgot about writing about it. Now I am going to be 30 pretty soon. I'm good with that since turning 30 is better than being dead. And I can say I'd rather be 30 than 20. Although I'll take the body I had at 20.
29th Year in review:
Travel - So in the past year I've been to New York City, San Diego (work trip), Las Vegas (shout out to the Vegas Vagabonds), Key West and the Erie Islands twice. I'm going to Baltimore in October.
Boys - I've dated. And not dated. I like it both ways. I'm on match.com and I've met a lot of um, interesting guys. I meet guys in person though too. Some fall for me. I fall for a couple but if I fall for them they run screaming. Well and if they fall for me I run screaming. Someday I'll find the happy medium here again.
Work - My job serves its purpose. It really is a great job, pay isn't bad, work with great people, blah blah blah. Thing is my job lacks any creativity and while I am not super into the whole helping people thing, my job doesn't really help people at all. But I'm not in any hurry to change it. I like it here.
Fitness - I discovered pilates this year. I love it. I wish I could do it everyday. Oh wait I could! But I don't. Okay so I wish that I had the will power or drive or whatever it is that people who get up at 5 am and workout have. I want that. But for now I work out a couple of times a week. It keeps me mildly in shape but I'd look better and probably feel better if I dropped 20 pounds.
Health - This July meant 5 years in remission from Stage 4 Nodular Sclerosing Hodgkins Disease.......cancer that took over my life for two years. They say 5 years in remission means your cured from the kind of cancer that I had. Yay. I blogged about cancer among other things here: http://brookedoll.diaryland.com/
Friends - I don't think I realized when I was little how easy it is to make new friends. I don't know if it was fear of rejection or the underlying unsubstantiated feeling of "everyone hates me" but I didn't try very hard to make friends as a kid. And now I don't really try and there they are. Amazing what a little maturity does for all of us. And I love my old friends. And I am glad some of my old friends are back in my life that left it for a bit. It's silly to let things come between me and a really great friend.
Car - I always wanted a VW Cabrio in black and tan. I have one now. Only downfall is that it's not a stick and I really prefer a stick to a boring automatic. The Cabrio seems to have a lot more issues than my Civic ever had. Why doesn't Honda make an adorable 4 seater convertible? Hint, hint.
House - I don't have one of these and I am just not sure that I want one. Sure I could afford one but I kind of like living at my dad and step-mom's house.
Family - I'm really glad that my brother and I have gotten closer in the last year. We've never been enemies or anything but I can say we are actually friends now and that's cool. I get along with my step-mom now. That's nice. I'm sure my dad is happy about that until she and I gang up on him. My mom is great. She drives me nuts regularly but she really is great. And Cooper (yes Cooper is family) keeps me happy if something else tries to make me unhappy.
So that's my year in review and present state of affairs - minus any humor. Usually I can re-read what I write and at least smile. Argh...so....
Sense of Humor - MIA. I'm going to find it now.
