So, today was not a good day. First, the heel on my shoe broke in a meeting. The shoes were from Target (read cheap) and lasted me since the spring so I am not that upset but I did have to limp around the remainder of the day and for the 5k to my car. Parking is at a premium where I work and if you aren't one of those in the office at the crack of dawn type people, you park far away.
It was pouring rain when I left work. This or perhaps an accident caused a back-up on the highway causing the highway travelers to play parking lot. I decided to get off the freeway and take the slightly longer but actually moving traffic way home. There were lots and lots of puddles on the road but most cars were making it through them just fine. I witnessed a small, low to the ground car in front of me sail through the puddle just fine. Well my car needed a sail. And some wind I would guess. It stalled right in the middle of the puddle (rushing river of a puddle). I called my wonderful spectacular and amazing husband. He was going to leave work and come get me but I told him to hold tight while i figured things out and maybe got a ride from my brother who wasn't at work at the time. So I call my brother and he agrees to come and pick me up. Hubby texted me the numebr of a tow truck company owner that we know. WHOOSH! A truck whips by me, missing my drivers side mirror by a millimeter. I needed to get out of the car I was trapped. Okay not really trapped. It's just that my car was in the curb lane but still about two feet from the curb. If I wanted to get out I was going to have walk IN the puddle. Can you imagine what is in that water? And did I mention I had one broken heel? I look in the back seat. I did have a pair of flip flops back there (no I don't know why I have an extra pair of flip flops in my car.....maybe for if I decide to get a pedi on a whim). But really what are flip flops going to do in nearly a foot of water anyway? I decied to do it anyway. Feet in the water just take a deep breath and do it. And I got out. And then a police man came and said he'd use that fancy ramming thing on the front of his car to push me out of the puddle. This means - I have to go back through the puddle and into the car to steer. My feet hand't dried off from the last time I was in the puddle so really what harm can twice do in the puddle. So I trek through the foot of water and back into the car and the policeman pushes me into an Arby's parking lot, where I had to get mozzarella sticks and wait for my wittle itty baby bwuther to come and get me.
This story does have a good ending though. Once my car had some time to dry itself out, it started. My brother drove it home for me and I followed him his car. He says it should start up fine in the morning and have no problems from it's swim.
