I have never been fired before. Well once by my dad's crazy best friend. But that's a story for another time and if you knew the story you'd understand why I don't consider it a firing. Anyway I've never been let go from I job I actually wanted to keep. I liked the people. I liked the work - when I had it.
I'm optimistic though that this will lead me to find a job that I love more. It's not that I didn't like my job but it was getting boring. I suppose that could be because we were slower than molasses. (HA HA I just did spell check to find out if I was spelling molasses correctly and it auto changed it to mole asses. I don't know if mole asses are slow or not but clearly that's not what I meant.)
So I had already had plans to meet a friend for lunch. I called her and told her what had happened and we decided a liquid lunch was in order. So we went to Salmnon Dave's in Rocky River and had lobster bisque and martinis. Not a celebration by any means but alcohol in the middle of the day is fun when you've just been laid off. So I enjoyed my post-layoff lunch and went home to review my resume. I had recently updated it anyway just in case. My laptop crashed. Just crashed right there and then about two hours after I got laid off. That's a bummer. Joe has a desktop and all but all of MY stuff is on MY laptop. I hope that I can get files off of my hard drive.
Anyway that's the lay off story. And the laptop crashing story. And I think I'll go have another martini now. Extra blue cheese stuffed olives, please.
